Thanks to you, last year we helped more youth than ever before.

Kids Help Phone’s first virtual care contact began in 1989 and today, services are busier than ever. We are driven by a singular mission – to be there for as many young people as possible, in the way they need us.

Young people know us, trust us, and turn to us first and frequently.

Each day over 1,000 young people reach out to Kids Help Phone for resources, counselling, live chat or to text from coast-to-coast. And from 2017 to 2018, we experienced a 44 per cent increase in demand for our professional counselling.

In 2018, your support fueled constant innovation and helped us:

  • Extend Live Chat from 5 days a week to 24/7, and conduct 67% more Live Chat sessions.
  • Launch a new, nationwide texting service for youth, available 24/7, in both English and French.
  • Create the first helpline in Canada to answer texts by severity versus chronology, ensuring youth at risk receive priority assistance.
  • Launch Good2Talk Nova Scotia for post-secondary students in the province.

For almost 30 years, we have been the one and only place that young people know, trust and can go to any time of the day or night, when they are distressed and all other doors are closed. Thanks to you, we are able to adapt to their changing needs and the accelerating pace of technological shifts. We have proven that innovation saves lives.
